End of Year Banquet
"There's No Place Like West" May 12, 2008, 6:00pm - 9:00pm in the SMW Gym.
At the end of the school year, we like to stop and take a little time to celebrate the accomplishments of these wonderful students. After a delicious meal catered by Outback Steakhouse, we will look back at the past nine months. Every student in the band program will be recognized, that includes the freshmen. We will take some time to say good-bye to our seniors. Special awards and scholarships will be announced. And to cap the evening off, we will all enjoy a video tribute. Tickets must be requested immediately. Fill out a Ticket Request Form (pdf) and return to school with payment.

2007-2008 Accomplishments

• 2007 Blue Valley Marching Festival - 1^st place Music, 1^st place Music General Effect, 2^nd place Overall (Prelims/Black Division)
• 2007 Central States Marching Festival - Superior Rating
• District Honor Band - 11 students selected
• District Honor Jazz Band - 1 student selected
• KC Youth Jazz Program - 3 students participating
• 2009 London New Year's Day Parade - West Pride Marching Band and Dance Team invited for their 6^th performance. West Pride has performed more than any other group in the world at this event
• Grand Opening of Perkins at 87^th and I-35 - Overland Express invited to perform

Photos! Photos! Photos!
As you've probably seen, we've had donated a wonderful photo gallery section for our site. As part of that, we can upload and store an unlimited number of photos. So, if you can create a CD or DVD with your photos, you can send the disc to school with your student and have them put it in the box labeled "Photos" that's just been placed on the file cabinet in the band room. The discs will get picked up periodically and given to our videographer for the end of year video and then forwarded to the webmaster to upload to the photo gallery.

The band family remembers Kelsey Smith
