Spring Awards Event
So proud of all of our students! We sent off our seniors at their May 15 awards night-dessert event, and we look forward to welcoming back our new seniors, juniors and sophomores -- everyone have a wonderful summer! See you at the Lenexa Fourth of July parade (Louie Louie band) and at Band Camp!
Some Notes from Mr. Thomas
All instruments must be turned in for evaluation and possible repair on Friday, May 19. If you wish to rent an instrument for the summer, Mr. Thomas or Hupe can get you the appropriate rental form.
Interested in auditioning for the District or State Honor Bands? Let's get you the audition music before the end of school!!!!!!! Those who make it in, start the summer before.
Louie, Louie Band - All current West Band and Color Guard students are invited to participate in the Lenexa July 4th Parade - we call it the Louie Louie Band. If you want to participate, there is a sign-up sheet in the front of the band room. The group meets in Lenexa the day of the parade (July 4th) and march the parade with other alumni members. There is no rehearsal and NO directors. This is all about the students and what they can do on their own. Parents will help procure school-owned instruments (percussion, tubas, baritones, flags etc.) and have them for you the day of the parade. If you rent an instrument for the summer you can bring it.
2017-2018 Color Guard
(in alphabetical order)
Congratulations to these newly named color guard members:
What a talented group of people we had audition this year! We are VERY excited about the potential of this year’s group.
REMINDER: We plan to order costumes in the beginning of June. We can only do that if we have the first two payments; $50 that came in on Monday May 1, and $100 from each person by Thursday, June 1. Thank you.
We are planning on at least one fundraiser in June to help you offset your third payment. We want EVERYONE to be a part of the fundraiser as this will help us purchase the warm-ups as well as flags for the year. Your fees only pay part of the expenses of being a guard member.
Again – We are SO excited for next year’s show and Color Guard! Congratulations!
Last Chance: Grocery Coupon Books
Coupons expire July 31, 2017, so if you plan to sell coupon books, do that now.

Since the books cost BAW LONDON $1 per book, the student will receive $4 credit to their Charms account upon purchase and treasurer will log it into Charms. Then the cash that the student receives from selling the book is his/hers to keep, or he/she can choose to deposit it also in their Charms account. Receipts will be provided upon purchase. All 3 books have a $5 coupon (for a $75 purchase at HyVee or a $50 purchase at Hen House or Price Chopper), so buyers can recoup the cost easily.
